Since their inception, the United Nations Climate Change Conferences—or Conference of the Parties (COPs)—have shaped the global response to climate change. These high-stakes gatherings bring together world leaders, scientists, activists, and policymakers to negotiate the future of our planet. Yet, despite increasing media attention, the inner workings of these forums remain complex and often misunderstood.

As COP30 takes place in 2025, 30 Climate COP Later takes a critical look at the past three decades of climate negotiations. Have these conferences driven real progress? Jean Lemire (Contributions de)

Biologiste de formation, Jean Lemire parcourt les mers depuis plus de 25 ans. D'abord comme scientifique, puis comme cinéaste. À bord du voilier SEDNA IV, il entreprend diverses missions: MISSION ARCTIQUE en 2002; MISSION BALEINES en 2003;MISSION ANTARCTIQUE en 2005 et finalement 1000 JOURS POUR LA PLANÈTE en 2012. Jean Lemire est également récipiendaire de nombreux prix et distinctions. IL a notamment été nommé Officier de l'Ordre du Canada et a reçu le prestigieux Prix Hommage des Prix canadiens de l'environnement. En 2010, l'Organisation des Nations unies lui a accordé le titre d'ambassadeur honorifique de la Vague verte, un vaste mouvement mondial de sensibilisation des jeunes à la biodiversité de la planète. Il est l'auteur des best-sellers MISSION ANTARCTIQUE, (2007) et LE DERNIER CONTINENT, 430 JOURS AU CŒUR DE L'ANTARCTIQUE, (2009) publiés aux Éditions La Presse.
