For the young Nathan, the best moments in life are spent alone in front of a computer. When his anthropologist mother's work with the Crees coincides with the family vacation, he follows reluctantly. The boy intends not to set foot outside. However, the young finds himself drawn into an exhilarating journey when he meets a young Cree. This friendship changes not only his holiday but also his perspective on life. In this heartwarming story, Nathan invites young readers to embark on an extraordinary journey to Old Nemaska, where the community reunites every summer. In this place of sharing and caring, he will overcome his shyness and fear of the unknown. Friendship, Cree traditions, sturgeon fishing, outhouses(!), laughter, memekweshiwach, and magic tricks are all part of this tale that seamlessly combines self-exploration with land exploration.

Patricia-Raynault-Desgagné détient une maîtrise en anthropologie de l’Université de Montréal, un baccalauréat en langues modernes (italien, espagnol) de l’Université Bishop’s et une maîtrise en littérature canadienne comparée de l’Université de Sherbrooke. Elle a participé à l’étude des impacts humains du complexe hydroélectrique La Grande sur l’utilisation du territoire des Cris. Elle a aussi contribué à l’étude du projet d’aménagement des centrales de l’Eastmain-1-A et de la Sarcelle et de dérivation de la rivière Rupert qui a nourri plusieurs éléments du roman. Patricia est membre de l’Ensemble à vents de Sherbrooke et parle sept langues.
