Résumé
--
What haven’t we read in the media attacking Christianity and the Catholic Church! One would almost believe that atheism, even a certain form of paganism, has taken hold today. To answer these accusations and rectify frequent errors, the author has endeavoured to get to the ‘heart’ of things – of the objections and of Christianity itself. To do so, he has examined the very roots of atheism and paganism and their context and evolution, right up to those contemporary objections — traditional though they may be — to Christianity: the religious wars, the Inquisition, the Crusades, colonisation, the depravity of certain popes and paedophilia. The author makes a personal contribution to the core debates: obedience and the voice of authority opposed to reason and wisdom, the very fact of the Revelation, the difficulties engendered by the Incarnation and anthropocentrism, and especially the crucial problem of suffering and death.
