Belgium, 1955. A mysterious animal is caught in the jungles of South America and transported to Europe on a cargo ship, where it ends up starving and half-dead on the outskirts of Brussels. François, a young boy with a fondness for taking in strays, finds it and brings it home to his mother and his menagerie—his best and only friends. As the son of a departed German soldier, François is the favorite target of every bully in school. Nobody can identify the strange creature with the voracious appetite and the stupendously long tail, and François figures his new pet is perfect for show-and-tell... But with a wild beast and a small classroom, things quickly get out of hand. Will this spell the end for François's new animal friend? The real story of the legendary Marsupilami!

Zidrou (Benoît Drousie) est né en 1962 à Bruxelles. D'abord instituteur, il se lance au début des années 1990 dans l'écriture de livres et de chansons pour enfants.En 1991, il rencontre le dessinateur Godi avec qui il crée L'Elève Ducobu. Sa carrière de scénariste de bande dessinée est lancée ! Il signe de nombreuses séries pour enfants et adolescents, des Crannibales à Tamara, de Scott Zombi à Sac à Puces, assure la reprise de La Ribambelle. Il est également l'auteur des plus réalistes, mais non moins sensibles, "Le Montreur d'histoires", "Tourne-Disque", "Lydie", "Folies Bergères", "La Mondaine", "Les 3 Fruits" ou encore "Les Promeneurs sous la Lune". On lui doit aussi, plus récemment, la reprise du classique autant qu'indémodable "Ric Hochet".En 2015, il signe Le Bouffon avec Francis Porcel, Le Crime qui est le tien avec Philippe Berthet pour la collection Ligne Noire, et entame la série Les Beaux Etés avec Jordi Lafebre.Zidrou reviendra en 2017 avec quatre sorties aux teintes très différentes : Shi en janvier, une nouvelle série avec Homs au dessin, le one shot Natures Mortes en mars, le troisième tome des Beaux Etés en juin et enfin Hadiya, avec son complice Francis Porcel, au mois de septembre.

Frank was born in 1956 in Brussels. He studied the art of sculpture for three years at the Saint-Luc Institute in the Belgian capital, and published his first work in "Spirou" magazine in 1973, before starting in on an exotic adventure story called "Comme un animal en cage," with a script by Terence (Thierry Martens). He then created the character of "Broussaille" (Dupuis), who quickly became a comic book hero, starring in poetic and philosophical adventure stories such as "Les Baleines publiques" and "Les Sculpteurs de lumière." The series won a dozen awards, and in 1992 a whole set of school books was created for secondary education pupils in France featuring Broussaille, to liven up the natural sciences, literature, and arts classes. Between 1981 and 1986 Frank developed the character of "L'Elan" in mini-cartoons, and in 1989, teaming up with Franquin, Hausman, and Cabanes, he created and illustrated a book dedicated to cats, "Entre Chats" (Delcourt). In 1993 he began work on the "Matu" series for the Japanese publishing company Kodansha. Hired as a freelance artist by Warner Bros., he also developed characters for the animated film "Excalibur." Passionate about nature and painting, Frank composed the "Zoo" trilogy for the prestigious Aire Libre collection (Dupuis), together with scriptwriter Philippe Bonifay, which began in 1994 and was completed in 2007. His most recent work includes a fresh take on the classic "Marsupilami" series with the two-part graphic novel "The Beast," created alongside scriptwriter Zidrou (Dupuis/Europe Comics).
