Né à Saint-Eustache en 1983, Mathieu Poulin a longtemps préféré le cinéma à la littérature. La lecture – imposée par un prof de cégep – d’un certain Hubert Aquin a cependant déclenché quelque chose en lui, si bien qu’après avoir terminé des études en lettres, il assure à son tour la transmission du patrimoine littéraire à titre de professeur au collège Ahuntsic.En 2015, il publie son premier roman, Des explosions, dans lequel il tente de convaincre son lecteur que le réalisateur américain Michael Bay est le dernier des grands philosophes. À peu près au même moment, il développe une passion dévorante pour la lutte professionnelle. Il commence à écrire sur le sujet sur Balle courbe, puis, à partir de 2017, co-anime le balado Le petit paquet, produit par RDS. Puisqu’il défend couramment l’idée que la lutte est un art, il lui apparaît naturel que la discipline ait sa propre critique.En 2019, il assiste à WrestleMania et pleure devant tant de beauté.
