Aventurier et mémorialiste italien, Giacomo Girolamo Casanova est né à Venise (Italie) le 2 février 1725, mort au château de Dux (Bohême) le 4 juin 1798. Il est l'auteur de "Histoire de ma fuite des Plombs de Venise", "Anecdotes vénitiennes d'amour et de guerre du XIVe siècle", "Histoire des troubles de Pologne", "Le Duel", "Ni dames ni amour", "Icosameron ou Histoire d'Édouard et d'Élisabeth" et surtout de ses Mémoires intitulées "Histoire de ma vie", publié à titre posthume en 1822.
Arthur Machen (Traduit par)

Arthur Machen est né à Caerlon-on-Usk (Royaume-Uni) le 3 mars 1863. En 1885 un "Catalogue occultiste" puis devient journaliste et traducteur. Son oeuvre compte une trentaine d'ouvrages se rattachant principalement à la littérature fantastique. Parmi ses principaux récits, citons notamment "Le Grand Dieu Pan" (1894). Il est mort à Beaconsfield le 15 décembre 1947.
