The king did everything he could to get rid of every spindle and spinning wheel. But the curse was stronger than that. And when the girl turned sixteen, she pricked her hand and fell asleep. He is known for being a pioneer of the fairy tale genre, deriving his stories from traditional folk tales. His most famous stories include "Puss in Boots", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Sleeping Beauty", and "Cinderella". His stories have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with classic animated films like "Sleeping Beauty" and "Cinderella". His story "Puss in Boots" was the basis for the character from the animated films "Shrek 2" and "Puss in Boots".

Né en 1628, Charles Perrault a fait des études littéraires brillantes au collège de Beauvais à Paris. Il obtient une licence en droit et s'inscrit alors au barreau en 1651. Il devient ensuite contrôleur général des bâtiments du roi, ainsi que membre de la Commission des inscriptions publiques. C’est en 1671 qu’il est élu à l'Académie française. Mais cet écrivain et conteur célèbre est principalement connu pour avoir contribué à relancer le genre littéraire des contes de fées avec ses fameux Contes de ma mère l'Oye ou Histoires et Contes du Temps Passé (1697), ainsi qu’un recueil de huit contes merveilleux appartenant à une littérature orale. Il a réécrit l’histoire du Petit Chaperon Rouge, de Cendrillon dans des versions beaucoup moins terribles que celles des légendes d’antan, transformant le récit et l'adaptant à la société de son temps.
