Historia opowiedziana przez młodego mężczyznę, zatrudnionego jako urzędnik w kopalni złota w San Francisco. Podczas niefortunnego rejsu wypływa na pełne morze i ostatecznie dociera do Londynu. Tam zostaje wciągnięty w historię zakładu pomiędzy dwoma braćmi. Postanawiają oni sprawdzić, jaki los spotkałby posiadacza banknotu o wartości miliona funtów, wydanego przez bank na potrzeby transakcji zagranicznej. Aby się tego dowiedzieć, szukają przypadkowego człowieka, który otrzyma pieniądze.Amerykański pisarz znany zwłaszcza z powieści „Książę i żebrak", „Przygody Tomka Sawyera" oraz „Przygody Hucka". Brał udział w wojnie secesyjnej, pracował w kopalniach srebra w Nevadzie, wreszcie zdobył zatrudnienie jako dziennikarz. Podróżował po Ameryce i Europie, czerpiąc ze swoich wypraw inspirację do kolejnych tekstów prozatorskich. W drugiej połowie lat 90. XIX wieku chętnie tworzył niedługie teksty krytykujące amerykańską rzeczywistość.

Mark Twain, de son vrai nom Samuel Clemens, est né en 1835 dans le Missouri et mort en 1910 dans le Connecticut. Il est l’un des premiers auteurs américains à utiliser ses origines sudistes pour créer ses personnages et situations romanesques. Lorsque la guerre de Sécession éclate, il fuit dans les montagnes du Nevada et devient chercheur d’or, cette expérience donnera lieu à des romans discrets (À la dure, en 1872). C’est avec la publication en 1876 de Tom Sawyer puis en 1885 d’Huckleberry Finn, que Mark Twain devient connu du grand public. La reconnaissance littéraire ne viendra que plus tard, avec les commentaires d’Hemingway et de Faulkner, qui voient en Mark Twain le père fondateur du roman américain.

I began this journey a few years ago as a medium. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that would lead me to be able to hear G-D, Jesus and some Arch Angels. I started getting messages that I needed to go out on the beach at sunrise, and to bring my tablet, more commonly known as a notebook. I would walk up and down the beach thinking I would see something like the burning bush, but that didnt happen. It couldnt be as simple as that. I needed to sit down with my tablet and start writing what I heard. I soon realized I was going to have to work hard for this. Almost every morning I would sit down either at the beach or later in my house, to listen to the great spirits tell me their wisdom. It would take a full year to put together this book. I asked G-D why me? Im not a bible scholar or anyone of great importance. Im just an average housewife and mother. He told me the meek shall inherent the earth.Dori Green Morris
