Cathryn Constable a étudié la théologie à l'université de Cambridge. Elle a ensuite travaillé chez "Vogue", "Elle Decoration", "Elle" et "The Independent". Elle a également écrit dans "The Sunday Times", avant d'aborder la littérature pour la jeunesse. Nourrie d'un roman au style russe durant sa jeunesse, "Little Katia", elle a voulu restituer dans "Sophie et la princesse des loups" cette ambiance de mitaines, de fourrures et d'arbres enneigés. Elle vit aujourd'hui à Islington (Londres) avec son mari et leurs trois enfants.
