Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855) was a brilliant and trailblazing British novelist, renowned for her hauntingly beautiful tales. As the eldest of the Brontë sisters, she penned the timeless masterpiece "Jane Eyre," a captivating exploration of passion, morality, and the strength of the human spirit.     Née en 1816 à Thornton, Charlotte Brontë est la sœur d’Emily et d’Anne, auteures respectives de Les Hauts de Hurlevent et d’Agnes Gray, autant de romans qui ont marqué l’histoire littéraire britannique. Suite aux décès de ses deux sœurs aînées , Charlotte devient l’aînée de la fratrie et c’est toutes ensemble qu’elles font de la littérature une pratique quotidienne. Une fois adulte, Charlotte devient institutrice. Elle séjourne en Belgique où elle rencontre M. Héger, qui dirige le pensionnat qui l’emploie. Cet homme fait un grand effet à Charlotte, qui tombe amoureuse jusqu’à l’obsession. Ce sentiment se transforme en dépression. Elle publie en 1847 Jane Eyre qui rencontre immédiatement un très grand succès malgré le vent de scandale qui accompagne la parution. En 1854, Charlotte se marie avec le vicaire Arthur Bell Nicholls mais un an plus tard elle tombe malade et meurt très rapidement, à seulement 38 ans.
